I Had No Idea Where I Was Going. But I Went Anyway.

I Had No Idea Where I Was Going. But I Went Anyway.

When I was 20, I packed my bags, left England, and moved to Hamburg for my very first job.

I was ambitious. I wanted to achieve something big.
But if you’d asked me what, I couldn’t have told you. I just knew I didn’t want to stay still.

Three jobs later, I started studying.
Then I met my husband in my very first semester.
Moved further south to be with him.
Started working again.
Two more jobs.

Then I hit pause.

Four children came into my life—and I stepped fully into being a mum.

For 18 years.

And then, quietly, something began to stir.
A whisper in the background: There’s more you want to do.

I didn’t know how to start. But I did start.
Almost by accident, I began helping a German business professional with his English.
One session. Then another. Then more.

Somehow, this “little side thing” grew.
A calling, not just a job.

I built a business from my kitchen table. Found clients—one of them is still with me after 24 years.
I even squeezed in a Master’s degree after office hours, when the kids were asleep and the house was quiet.

It wasn’t a straight line. It didn’t follow a plan.
But it became something deeply meaningful.

And that itch you’re feeling right now?
That quiet tug to do something different?
Don’t ignore it.

You don’t need to have the full picture.
You just need a starting point. A small yes.

Maybe for you, it’s improving your English.
Maybe it’s working differently, living differently, showing up more fully as you.

Whatever it is, don’t wait 18 years.

Start with what you’ve got.
Make space in the corners of your week.
Build something that fits your life.
Something that excites you. That challenges you. That feels like yours.

You don’t have to be loud. Or perfect.
You just have to begin.

Why Perfectionism Is Holding You Back in English (And What to Do About It)

Why Perfectionism Is Holding You Back in English (And What to Do About It)

You may have heard that “practice makes perfect.”

And that’s, of course, good advice.

But there’s more…

To be good at speaking English, you also have to practise embracing mistakes.

When you learn how to accept mistakes as part of the process, you can:

  • Speak more freely without hesitation
  • Build stronger connections with others
  • Take more opportunities to practise, even in uncomfortable situations

How?

Perfectionist Peter (name changed!) practised by speaking even when he wasn’t sure

One day, he said:

I used to rehearse every sentence before speaking, but now I speak without overthinking. It’s scary, but I’m getting better at expressing myself in real conversations!”

Speaking confidently not only makes you better at communicating in English

It’s also liberating.

A way to build true confidence and reduce stress.

Speak up. Be bold. Get heard.

AI vs. Human Trainers: Why the Perfect Combo Boosts Your English!

AI vs. Human Trainers: Why the Perfect Combo Boosts Your English!

AI is a great tool for learning English—it corrects grammar, translates instantly and even chats with you. But can it replace a real trainer? Not yet!

Here’s why:

A trainer understands YOU—your struggles, goals and learning style.

AI gives answers, but a trainer asks the right questions to help you think. Ever had a trainer explain something in a way that just clicked? That’s human intuition, something AI lacks.

Also, learning a language isn’t just about grammar—it’s about culture, humour and emotions. AI doesn’t laugh at your jokes or cheer you on when you finally get that tricky pronunciation right.

Think of AI as your practice partner and a trainer as your coach.

The best results? Use both. AI helps with repetition, but a great trainer brings motivation, insight and real connection.

For now, humans still have the edge. 😉
