You’ll know this as Speed Networking!

Speed Networking

“It’s fun, brings great contacts, and helps me finally speak English more freely.”
Dorit Flor, klopfecke.de

“You get to meet people from all over the world and practice speaking English together. My last session included people from Germany, Iran, Ukraine, Sweden, and Georgia.

Christine runs this for free, and the value is amazing. She gives prompts and pairs you up in breakout rooms, which makes it easy and fun. You walk away having met really interesting people. I’ll definitely keep coming back.”
Michi Lantz

Come along, have a conversation and enjoy speaking English.

Who are the Speak Easy Sessions for?

For professionals and entrepreneurs who’d like more opportunities to speak English.

Perhaps you understand almost everything in a meeting but become quiet when it’s your turn.

Perhaps you’re quick and confident in your own language but need a little longer to find the words in English.

Or perhaps your English is already good. You simply don’t have enough opportunities to use it.

You’re all welcome.

There’s no teaching and no correcting. Just conversations with people who are happy to give English a go.

What happens in a Speak Easy session?

We meet on Zoom every two weeks, on Thursdays from 12:15 to 12:45 German time.

Here’s how it works:

  • I welcome everyone and introduce a topic.
  • You talk in pairs or small groups.
  • Conversation partners change during the session.
  • We come back together briefly at the end.

Most of the time, you’ll be chatting with one or two other people. When we come back together as a group, you’re welcome to share something, but only if you want to.

What does a session feel like?

It’s usually easier than you expect.

You’ll meet people from different countries, with different backgrounds, experiences and accents.

The conversation partners change, the questions change, and interesting conversations often develop in directions nobody expected.

There’s no pressure to speak perfectly. And nobody is waiting to correct your grammar.

Sometimes people are still chatting when our 30 minutes are up!

From Speed Networking to Speak Easy

I originally started these sessions as Speed Networking, bringing people together to meet, exchange ideas and practise speaking English.

In 2023, the local newspaper wrote about the initiative.

The name eventually changed to Speak Easy, but the idea stayed the same: meet people, speak English and enjoy the conversation.

What participants say

“Can strangers really connect without being in the same physical space? Tall order. I was surprised. What a “space” of warm welcome and genuine curiosity about each other.

Time flew by. We all wanted to chat more.

Christine’s recipe for quality conversation:
1. An ice-breaker question that gets conversation flowing.
2. A deeper question that gives self-introduction a fun spin.
3. Her care for everyone’s passions and amazing memory of details.

As a newcomer, I felt at ease in no time.”

Are the sessions free?

Yes, completely free.

I offer Speak Easy as a relaxed space where people can practise English, meet others and enjoy interesting conversations.

Good to know

You don’t need perfect English, but you should be able to take part in a conversation.

There’s no preparation and no correcting. We keep our cameras on so we can see each other while speaking.

You can join once or come regularly. Whatever suits you.

Who leads the sessions?

I’m Christine, a British English Communication Coach based in Germany. I’ve been working with German-speaking professionals on their English since 2000.

The Speak Easy Sessions are the relaxed part of my work. I enjoy bringing people together and discovering what happens when they start talking.

I bring the topics. You bring the conversation.
