Worried Small Errors Make You Look Unprofessional? The Truth is the Opposite.

https://theenglishtrainer.gumroad.com/l/EnglishTensesCheatSheetMy client froze mid-sentence the other day.

Was that wrong?” she whispered after saying, “I have sent the report last week” instead of “I sent the report last week.”

Here’s what I told her: “Nobody cares as much as you think“.

After 25+ years of coaching business professionals, I’ve learnt this truth… Your tense mistakes aren’t ruining your business conversations.

No one in your Zoom meeting is thinking: “Oh no… she said ‘I have sent’ instead of ‘I sent.’ Can’t trust her with this project.”

What actually builds trust in global business:

  • Saying “The project needs three changes” (not “requires several modifications“)
  • Speaking with confidence, even with small errors
  • Making eye contact and connecting
  • Getting to the point quickly

So stop obsessing over “have you done” vs. “did you do“. Shift your focus from tenses to trust!

💬 What about you? Has grammar fear ever made you hold back?
