When are you having a day off?

When are you having a day off?

A day off

We don’t normally say that someone has a ‘free day’ as in German. We say that ‘he or she has got the day off‘. That means that he/she doesn’t have to work on that day.

Two other example sentences:
I’m going to take a day off to visit a former colleague of mine.
Shall we take a day off tomorrow to work in the garden?

‘i’ or ‘I’?

‘i’ or ‘I’?

i love lego

We use a capital (large) letter at the beginning of a sentence. For example:

We thought it would be useful to produce a little book.”

We also use a capital letter for the personal pronoun ‘I‘ (meaning ‘ich’). For example:

“What could I do?”

Using a small ‘i’ in a business email message is unprofessional. Sorry, I don’t like it! 🙁

A great trick to improve your memory

MemoryWe’ve seen or heard of people who can memorise lists of numbers in telephone books and the order of cards in a deck. And we most probably believe that we wouldn’t be able to do it. In this TED Talk video, Joshua Foer describes a technique, called ‘the memory palace’, showing that anyone can learn to remember things relatively easily. Go on, give it a try! 🙂
