Are you sensitive and sensible?

Sensitive skin

The English word ‘sensible’ means ‘vernünftig’ in German, as in the sentence: ‘I have to wear sensible shoes in my new job’.

And the German word ‘sensibel’ means ‘sensitive’ in English, as in the sentence: ‘The company makes products for sensitive skin’.

Yes, they are often used incorrectly! 😉

Meetings

I know that a lot of people find meetings a waste of time. I often think about they can be made more effective. But how?

Have you thought of holding a meeting while walking around or even just standing up? That way your meetings will most probably be much shorter! 😉 Of course, what is really important is to make sure that everyone sticks to the agreed start and end times and that everyone knows who will do what by when!

Your or you’re, that is the question …

Your or you’re, that is the question …

Your or you're

Your” shows possession. Try replacing “your” with “my” in a sentence. If it works, then use “your”.

Example: “Is this your office?” (This means: Does this office belong to you?)

You’re” is a contraction or combination of “you are”.

Example: “Please phone me when you’re in Cologne”. (This means: Please phone me when you are in Cologne.)

Don’t worry too much. Even native speakers get this wrong! 😉
