I know that the British weather can be quite unpredictable, however, if you do go to Britain, you must go to the seaside. And if you’re lucky, you’ll even get to see one of those British piers.
Here’s Brighton’s West Pier which, unfortunately, was closed to the public in 1975. But this one is open …
(I’ll be going to the south of England this year and hope to be able to visit one or two piers while I’m there.)

One day an employee received an unusually large paycheck. He decided not to say anything about it. The following week, his paycheck was for less than the normal amount, and so he went to his boss to tell him about the mistake.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you were overpaid the week before?” his boss asked. The employee looked surprised and said, “Well, I can overlook one mistake, but not two in a row!”

We spoke about a memory technique called the LOCI method some time ago. Do you remember? Watch this clearly spoken video to see how it works.
Why not test the technique on others? I have done so several times with people I work with and have seen again and again that it really works. 🙂

In Germany, we talk about ‘Brückentage’ or ‘bridge days’. According to Wikipedia, these are the days that are taken off from work to fill the gap between a holiday on Thursday or on Tuesday and the weekend. Ascension Day and Corpus Christi are always on Thursdays and so a lot of people take the Fridays off to have long weekends. We don’t have a name for these days in English. We just talk about having ‘long weekends’ as far as I know.

I do like these tips (link to www.dummies.com) on how to introduce a new employee to your company`culture. Why not help him or her have a good start in their new environment?
My favourite tip is letting the new employee be a shadow before s/he starts doing his/her own job or using other employees as mentors. I personally remember how difficult it was starting a new job even though it is a long time ago!
