Meet Mrs Bucket—Pronounced “Bouquet”

Have you met Hyacinth Bucket before? She’s a fictional character in the former BBC sitcom Keeping Up Appearances.

Hyacinth tries her best to impress others—especially those in higher social classes—by speaking with a refined accent.

One funny example of this is how she insists on pronouncing her last name.

It’s “Boo-kay“—with an accent placed on the second syllable,” she reminds everyone who mispronounces her name.
