Tone matters

Grammar gets attention.  Tone gets the reaction.

You can write a perfectly correct email and still sound cold, sharp or slightly fed up.

You can also make a small grammar mistake and still sound perfectly fine, because the tone does the heavy lifting.

That is the annoying part. And also the useful part.

In business, people usually remember how your message felt before they remember whether you used the article correctly.

So “Please could you send this today?” often works better than “Send this today, please.”*

Same task.  Different temperature.

Tone isn’t decoration. It’s the difference between sounding clear and sounding like a policy document with feelings.

So yes, grammar matters. But tone decides whether people keep reading.
