A simple trick to make our writing stronger

When we want to sound important in English, we often add one word.

Very.

Very important.
Very clear.
Very useful.

The problem isn’t correctness.
It’s impact.

Very doesn’t add meaning.
It hides it.

Here’s a simple habit that helps.
When you see very, pause.
Ask yourself what you really mean.

Important. Or critical?
Useful. Or practical?
Clear. Or specific?

Stronger words do the work on their own.

Quick Win
Find one very in your last text.
Delete it.
Choose the word that actually says what you mean.

Something I need to remember too. wink

Clear words sound confident.
Extra words rarely do.
