This is so easy that we probably haven’t given it much thought at all. According to Geoffrey James (link to inc.com), instead of rushing into a discussion, we should:
“Pause a full second before responding.”
The advantages are that we don’t interrupt the other person, we have time to focus and to think about what to say next, and our listeners see us as being deep thinkers. It’s worth giving it a try, isn’t it?

If you’re not sure how to drink wine, you might like to read this lovely little article (link to: cupofjo.com) and enjoy the beautiful illustrations at the same time. Joanna, the writer of the article, comes from America, so I’m not sure if the rules of etiquette are the same in your country. You might know that better than I do, as I’m not a wine drinker myself. 😉 But I know in Germany that it’s important to have eye contact with the other person when clinking glasses!
And here’s a nice little trick for the ladies to stop lipstick from sticking to their wine glasses! But we water drinkers can do that, too! 🙂
