Is it a date or an appointment?

Is it a date or an appointment?

So have you made a ‘date’ or an ‘appointment’? A ‘date’ is another name for a ‘rendezvous’ (so we use it in a private context), whereas an ‘appointment’ is what you should use for a business meeting.

If you have a date with your boss, you probably won’t be discussing business topics! 😉

Getting started

Do you often find it difficult to get started and find yourself putting off actions or tasks to a later time? In English we have a word for this. We call it ‘procrastination‘ (in German ‘Aufschub’ or ‘Verzögerung’ or even ‘Verschleppungstaktik’).

Take a look at this lovely little video clip if you need ideas on how not to start doing the work you should really be doing! I hope it helps you!

Per cent or percent?

Per cent or percent?

Per cent

It’s your decision whether you would like to write ‘percent’ or ‘per cent’ (as one or as two words). Writing ‘percent’ is standard American English usage, while ‘per cent’ is more common in British usage. ‘Percentage’ is always written as one word.

Whichever you choose, be consistent!
