Is it farther or further?


Someone asked me to other day to explain the difference between ‘further‘ and ‘farther‘. So here we go …

 ‘Farther’ (with the word ‘far’ in it) refers to physical distance.

“My office is farther away from the entrance than yours.”

And ‘further’ refers to figurative distance.

“Does the product need further testing?”
