N … is for Nativity Plays and Nativity Scenes

Mary and JesusA nativity play tells the story of Jesus Christ’s birth and is often performed by children before Christmas for parents and friends. I remember being Angel Gabriel when I was in primary school and bringing the good news to Mary. Our play was a bit like the one I found here on YouTube.

Displaying a nativity scene (also known as a manger scene, or crib) is a loved Christmas tradition. Sets – often made of wood or porcelain – have a stable with star, Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus in a manger, some shepherds with lambs, the Three Wise Men and one or two farm animals. If you don’t have a set, you might like to buy one on etsy.com.
