Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.  It was originally a day when people celebrated the end of the harvest and thanked God for it.

According to history.com, It’s a day when families get together for a day of “feasting, football and family”.

It sounds a bit like what we in Britain call “Harvest Festival”.
