Why You’ll Probably Never Need a Physical Dictionary Again
Think about it—how often do we reach for a physical dictionary nowadays?
With smartphones, tablets and computers always within reach, we have access to any word we need in seconds. The days of flipping through pages in search of the right meaning are becoming a thing of the past.
Online dictionaries, like Merriam-Webster or Oxford, are quick, accurate and available anytime. Plus, they often include features like audio pronunciation and usage examples that a paper version just can’t match.
With voice assistants like Siri and Alexa, you don’t even have to type any more. You can just ask for the definition of a word, and bam, you’ve got it!
While physical dictionaries still have a place in some classrooms or libraries, there’s a very high chance that most of us will never use one again.
So, will you still keep yours on the shelf?
