I was talking about the importance of listening in a workshop the other day, and have just come across this lovely little video by The School of Life on how to become a good listener. It’s a skill I think most of us might need to practise more! 😉
It’s or its?
Is it ‘its’ or ‘it’s’? So many people struggle with this. I was surprised to read here that Jane Austen did, too. On the other hand, I think we probably all make this mistake now and again. There’s really very little difference – just a little apostrophe! 😉
‘Its’ shows possession.
‘It’s’ means ‘it is’.

Dressing correctly – the men
If you want to belong to the upper class in Britain, you have to know how to dress, according to British etiquette expert, William Hanson.
Here are some of the rules:
- Don’t wear brown shoes in cities.
- The end of your shoes must be round.
- Shoelaces should be in neat, straight lines.
- With a two-button jacket, you only button the top button. With a three-button jacket, you button the middle one.
- Jackets must be worn all evening.
