The phrase ‘in order to’ is rather formal and a bit old-fashioned. It can be shortened by removing the first two words. It’s quite enough to say ‘to’.
Let’s look at some examples:
I worked until 5 to finish the project.
I worked until 5 in order to finish the project.
To finish the job, I had to work longer.
In order to finish the job, I had to work longer.
So easy when you know how, isn’t it?
