Clerk

The German word ‘Sachbearbeiter’ is rather tricky to translate. I’d probably use the word ‘office worker’ or ‘the person responsible for …’. For example, ‘die Sachbearbeiterin für Anträge ist nicht da’, might be translated as ‘the person who deals with applications isn’t here at the moment’.

Writing a CV

In Britain people apply for jobs with a ‘curriculum vitae’ or ‘CV’. In America people apply with a ‘resume’ or ‘résumé’. A CV is usually several pages long, while a resume is usually only one page long. You can read about the difference here.

Web product manager, Philippe Dubost, received over 100 job offers after creating an online résumé that looked exactly like an Amazon product page. It’s really not a bad idea to be creative and to differentiate yourself from others if you are looking for a job, is it?

Have you ever written or produced a creative CV/résumé?
