Dressing correctly – the men

If you want to belong to the upper class in Britain, you have to know how to dress, according to British etiquette expert, William Hanson.

Here are some of the rules:

  • Don’t wear brown shoes in cities.
  • The end of your shoes must be round.
  • Shoelaces should be in neat, straight lines.
  • With a two-button jacket, you only button the top button. With a three-button jacket, you button the middle one.
  • Jackets must be worn all evening.

She replies, “For the first half of it, I wasn’t even born!”

Working nights

I think that working nights stresses the body tremendously. I’ve worked with many people who not only work night shifts, but also varying day and evening shifts. Perhaps that’s even more stress for the body?

Read the seven frightening facts here. And listen to The Night Shift to find out more about how working nights affects our bodies.

Two little words: Thank you

We know that being thankful can make us feel happier. But, according to psychologist Dr Lisa Williams, saying thank you “provides a valuable signal that you are someone with whom a high quality relationship could be formed”.

How can you become a better presenter? You’ll find some great tips here that might be able to help you.

Some of my favourites? I like the idea of structuring a presentation like a detective story, finding inspiration from some of the best, designing a slide deck with love, and working with simple slides (they’re much more powerful than overcrowded ones).
