Instead of using the old term “firemen”, we now usually use the term “firefighters”. According to Wikipedia, firefighting was originally an all-male profession, however today there are women who actively fight fire. I think that the term “firefighter” comes from America, however I’ve just found it on a UK website here, so it seems to be fully acceptable in Britain, too. I’ve also read the terms “firewoman” and “fireperson”!
When I was in London a few months ago, I heard people talk a lot about ‘street food’. I didn’t know exactly what they meant until I was introduced to it while I was there.
So ‘street food’ is ready-to-eat food or drinks that are sold in the street or other public places. It is often cooked and sold in ‘food trucks’. And these trucks appear to be popping up everywhere!
One such business is Luardos – specializing in Mexican food. Another is Baba G’s – offering curry-infused burgers and tandoori wraps. And yet another is Churros Bros – with “the best damn Churros and Chocolate this side of Madrid”!

So if you’re going to London soon, see if you can visit at least one of London’s ten most popular food trucks (link to: eatinglondontours.co.uk).
You’re on a business trip, are thirsty and don’t want to drink too much alcohol. A ‘Radler’ would be the perfect drink, but you don’t know how to order one. So you’ll just have to explain that it’s a mix of beer and Sprite.

According to The British Monarchy’s official website, the Union Flag, or Union Jack, is the national flag of the United Kingdom. Take a short look at the website to learn where the different crosses come from. A lot of people don’t seem to know this.
