Decluttering can make you feel good
I took a whole pile of clothes that were too big for me to the charity shop the other day. It felt so good. As Gretchen Rubin says, getting rid of clutter (Gerümpel, überflüssiges Zeug) is “exhilarating” and that’s exactly what I felt. I totally agree with her. The more clutter you have, the better it feels to get rid of it.
I must confess that I’m one of those people who find it difficult to get rid of things. You never know. You might need them one day! 😉 With the clothes, I thought I might not be able to keep my weight, so I hung on to them. But I felt it was time to part with them (to part with = sich trennen von). So now they’re gone!
Perhaps reading the questions in her little quiz (link to: gretchenrubin.com) can inspire even more action on my part. And what’s more, you might even start decluttering your home, too! 😉
Her last question got me thinking, though. What do you do if someone gives you a gift you don’t like or need? Oh dear, I’ve asked myself that question before.
