Steal the technique, not the accent

You watch a TED talk (I love them!) and think, I could never sound like that.

So you work on the wrong thing. The voice, the polish, the ease that seems to come with growing up speaking English.

What makes a talk easy to follow is its shape. They say one thing at a time, and they say the most important sentence twice.

That’s a technique, and a technique works in any language.

Quick win: Before your next meeting, decide the one sentence you want people to remember. Then say it twice, once near the start and once at the end.
