Can I say something different here?
There’s a moment in a meeting when you know the decision is wrong. You feel it before you can say it, that quick pull in your chest while everyone else nods.
In your own language you’d have said it already, in the exact tone you meant. In English the only sentence you can find is „I don’t agree„, and it comes out harder than you feel. So you let it pass.
English has plenty of ways to disagree. It just puts the politeness at the front instead of inside the sentence. Once the first few words are out, you can be as direct as you like.
(I still pick my first words carefully in German. Most people do, in a second language.)
Quick win: Start with „Can I say something different here?“ Then say the thing you were going to say anyway.
