4 Things I Must Eat and Drink When I’m Back in England
Every time I’m back in England, there are four things I simply must have.
First up: salt and vinegar crisps. There’s nothing like that sharp, tangy flavour hitting your tongue—it’s almost a shock but in the best way.
Then, it’s tea with milk. Yes, I know you can get tea anywhere, but in England, it just tastes… right. Smooth, warm and comforting, like a little hug in a cup.
Next are crumpets dripping with butter. Toasted until golden, with those little holes soaking up every bit of butter—heavenly.
And finally, scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Thick, creamy, swee, and crumbly all at once. It’s messy but worth it.
These simple treats bring back all the flavours of home.
What about you? What’s the first thing you eat when you go back home?

Hi Christine!
I do like British food, except those salt and vinegar crisps, salted ones are tastier for me.
High tea in England , scones with clotted creme and strawberry jam is extremely delicious and tea with milk – I only like it in England. In Germany
it’s completely different, might depend on the water or tea 🤔
I ’ve never had crumpets, must ask for them when I‘ll be in Britain next time.
Thank you for your sparks ⚡️ and have a nice Sunday🍀☀️

Hi Gabi,
Salted crisps are second on my list! So we agree. Tea tastes quite different in Germany, doesn’t it? Yes, it’s either the water, tea or milk! 🙂 Hope to see you again soon, Christine
