German -ieren doesn’t always become English -ate ✍️
Some German verbs ending in -ieren look similar to English verbs.
But the endings aren’t always the same.
Examples:
- registrieren → register (not registrate)
- kommentieren → comment
- organisieren → organise (not organisate)
💡 Quick tip:
Don’t automatically add -ate to an English verb just because the German word ends in -ieren.
And one interesting detail: commentate exists, but it usually means describing an event as it happens, for example during a football match.
