If you’d like to see whether a film is worth watching, you can always take a look at the trailer beforehand.

IMDb is a good place to start.

Two films I enjoyed:

Of course, there are a lot more.

And if you find it too difficult to watch a whole film in English, you can start with say 10 minutes or so.

Or just watch the trailers!

“The future of fashion can and will be made with sustainable materials”, says biomaterials investigator Dan Widmaier.

We can live with nature rather than live against it.

And this is exactly what Dan, the co-founder and CEO of Bolt Threads, is setting out to prove.

You could apply for a job as the very first and only Chief Candy Officer for Candy Funhouse—an online, Canada-based candy store. (Or what I call a ‘sweet shop’.)

But you would have to act fast. The deadline for applications is 31st August.

The position is open to anyone over the age of five. But you would have to move to North America. However, you could work from home.

Previous experience is not necessary. But you do need “a passion for candy, pop culture, and a sweet tooth“!

Of course, the position comes with an extensive dental plan.

Oh, and you need to be fluent in English!

Baby Boomers and Generations X, Y and Z

Baby Boomers and Generations X, Y and Z

Baby Boomers and Generations X, Y and Z

What are you?

Are you

  • a baby boomer, born between 1945 and 1964,
  • member of Generation X, born between 1965 and 1981,
  • member of Generation Y (also known as a digital native or millennial), born between 1982 and 1994 or
  • a member of Generation Z (also known as a member of the post-millennial generation or a centennial), born between 1995 and 2010?

(I don’t think there’ll be any members of the Alpha generation reading this!)

Now that you know, take a look at what Iberdrola has to say about your generation.

“I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.”
Albert Einstein

Do you feel like that, too?

I do.

What I have achieved is through hard work and dedication. But also because I’m passionately curious.

Does that apply to you, too?

Something I read recently in Scott H. Young’s blog:

I knew someone who was enrolled in a college Spanish class. The class was divided into sixteen weeks, one for each verb conjugation. Most of the time, the most common three or four conjugations are all you really need. What’s the point of studying the pluperfect subjunctive if you can’t speak in the present tense without hesitation?”

This is something I truly believe, too.

I had ten years of French at school and later at college. I read Maupassant, Gide and Marivaux.

But I’m still not able to hold a decent conversation in the language.

Why do we learn those complex structures and tenses if we haven’t yet mastered the simple ones?

What are your thoughts on this?
