Stop Saying “Sorry for My English”

Yesterday, a brilliant writer emailed me: ‘Sorry for my English, it’s not my first language.

But here’s the truth:

  • You don’t need to apologise for your English.
  • If people understand you, your English is working.
  • Most of the time, your English isn’t the problem – your confidence is.

Next time you feel the urge to apologise, try saying this instead:

  • “Let me say that another way.”
  • “I’m still improving – but here’s what I mean.”
  • Or just say it without explanation.

You’re allowed to speak English without a disclaimer. Own your space. Say it anyway.
