You don’t have to choose between polite and direct.

Direct does not mean rude.
And polite does not have to mean vague.

I see this again and again.

German-speaking professionals soften everything in English:

“I’m not sure, but maybe we could possibly…”
“If it’s okay for you, I just wanted to quickly ask…”

They’re trying to be respectful.

But the message becomes hard to see.

Clarity is not harsh.
It actually helps the other person relax.

Instead of:
“I’m not sure, but maybe we could possibly…”

Try:
“I suggest we…”

Instead of:
“If it’s okay for you, I just wanted to quickly ask…”

Try:
“Could you confirm this by Friday, please?”

You can still smile.
You can still say please.

Same respect.
Clearer message.

💬 Quick Win:
In your next sentence, delete one softener. Just one.

That’s often enough.

Stuck on something in English? Tell me, and I might turn it into a Spark.
